The following was taken from the Yorkshire Regiment website

Killed in action 1 Jul 1916. F&F. Although the son of a Yarm family he is recorded on the Preston/Egglescliffe Memorial and Soldiers Died says he was living at the latter place on enlistment. Only one Daniel Overfield fell in the war so there can be no doubt about this.

Yarm1914 believe that Daniel was was born in 1889 to Thomas and Mary Ann in Yarm. In 1901 when he was 12 the family were living in High Church Wynd with a sister Lucillar and a cousin Thomas Caxon Overfield who was 1.The family moved and were in Danby's Wynd in 1911. On 22 March 1913 Daniel married Beatrice Johnson and she gave birth to Thomas Howard a year later on 29 March 1914. The family lived at 10 Lilac Road in Eaglescliffe and Beatrice gave birth to a daughter called Beatrice Annie in 1915 before Daniel signed up for the DLI in Stockton on 22 November 1915 which was approved on 10 January 1916 and he was assigned regiment number 12604.
